Miss Matilde Moisant :thumb12214952: During the early days of aviation, miss Moisant, sister of the famous John B. Moisant, pioneer aviatior, and aunt of Lt. Stanlie J. Moisant, set a standard for the ever growing legion of feminine aviation enthusiasts. She secured the second pilot license ever awarded to a woman in the United States, on Aug 13,1911, after only 32 minutes of flying instruction. It is interesting to note that no flying instructor ever accompanied Miss moisant aloft. Amelia Earhart In 1937 her plane disappeared mysteriously over the Pacific Ocean, and that is how most people remember one of America's famous aviatrix.  Amelia was born in her grandparent's house in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897.  She and her sister, Muriel, lived with their grandparents until 1908, when the girls moved to Des Moines, Iowa to live with their parents.  It was there that Amelia saw her first airplane and she was not impressed.  "It was a thing of rusty wire and wood and not at all interesting" (qtd. in "Amelia Earhart- The Early Years").  Amelia Earhart was an enthusiastic individual who had faced many challenges before b
